COMMUNIQUE DE PRESSE DU GOUVERNEMENT.

Version Anglaise de l'explication du "Balancer".



For a while now some of you have been asking for the „opinion“ of the devs. As balancer I am giving my views on the current issues. In the future, I will try to make decisions that we have made understandable, from time to time.

Survival Adjustments:

Many players have noticed that you got much better rewards from survival than those that you got from missions. Originally survival was not planned as the primary level up tool. Unfortunately this is what it has become, which has caused us to take action.

Surely we could have raised the rewards in other places. However, precisely this would have led to, as hinted by a player on the German forums, the problem of faster „content clear“. All players want - which is correct - to be constantly occupied. The faster the level pace is, the more content the game needs to keep you (our players) busy. That is, the faster you level, the more content we „must“ add to the game. If these contents can be „worked off“ faster than we technicians are able to deliver new ones, then there will be more and longer dry spells. So it was smarter for both sides to stem the „too good“ feature.

The problem that you still face – the ability to catch up to the highest ranked player – is probably a general „problem“, which is discussed in balancing. What the pursuer tends to forget is the fact that the players, who currently lead the rankings have played through times when there was no 75% family-bonus. There was also a time with no survival, and various other features. So the advantage that they enjoyed in recent months, virtually evens it out.

The “old” survival system will not be returned though, because the adjustments, at this point, was simply overdue.

Bullies are overpowered:

The Support and the CMs are often asked for formulas and values. What happens when these values, which are not planned for the community, are “published” you can see in this example. The absorb bonus of 2% has been in the game before I started working on Mafia. So even when you got excited about too strong tactician, the mechanism was already in the game.

But okay, correct is, the bully does has a certain advantage. This is quite low though, and so the problem has received a low priority. I personally would prefer if I could banish this point from the Mafia-Mechanics. Unfortunately it is not so simple. Internally the game is a lot more complex than you might think. Many Mechanics are connected and intertwined and a change to one can affect many others.
In this much discussed topic it is so, that some features would no longer function as intended. Since the “problem” occurs rarely and the remedy would be very complex, the priority has been set very low.

Rewards for the City Quests and Lucky Devil:

First, the city quests. These quests are additional free game content. Besides the short while that it takes to go through each task, successful completion of these quests gives you the chance to get epic skill and equipment. Please note, this is not guaranteed. There will definitely be players that are “bad lucked” and will go through all quests and not receive an epic item. It is also possible that you will not be able to use any of the three items being offered. So you should complete all quests and if you are lucky you will win epic items for your inventory.

Lucky Devil. The main prizes were announced. The consolation prizes are consumables. Of course with a bit of bad luck you might get ammunition, which you cannot use. I tested the event and I was more than motivated. Normally you get a “win” which would cost at least 125gold in the shop. Only as pointer: If you were to purchase these skills and equipments in the shop they would cost 16200gold there. For example the defibrillators 125Gold to change the cards but you get in return 375gold. I think that is this game of luck no one should complain about bad prizes. For the few players who got 9x pistol ammunition, I am sorry, that was really bad luck.

Overall, as mentioned regarding rewards, the improvement of equipment should also not be done quickly, as the above problem with the increasing scarcity of content will appear. It really makes no sense for us or for you, to throw new highend-items in the game every few weeks. Firstly at some point you would no longer have the desire to upgrade your equipment and secondly we would quickly be faced with technical difficulties which can only be corrected with a lot of efforts.
